Two cup handles with the same fixing centres can have different body widths, heights and backplate shapes, so a replacement should also be checked to make sure it covers any marks or previous fixing points left by the old hardware.

For new cabinetry, there is more freedom to choose by proportion. A compact cup pull can work well on smaller drawers, while wider designs tend to sit more comfortably on broader drawer fronts. The aim is not to make the handle fill the drawer; it should simply look in proportion without overwhelming the cabinet front.
